Creating a Blog: Building Your Brand

Over the course of the past six months, I have grown more and more interested in creating a lifestyle blog. Each time I sit down to make one I back out due to a fear of failure. I have decided that over the course of this semester, I am going to use this blog as a tool to track my process of creating a lifestyle blog.

Blogging has quickly become a very popular hobby to many and even a full-time job to some. Blogging is a creative outlet in which people share outfit ideas, fitness tips, home decor tips and a slew of other topics. I believe that blogging has become a very saturated market, but it is a market that I would love to be a part of. I am using this first blog post to talk about how I plan to build my brand and market myself on social media and my future blog.

Choose Social Media Platforms That Support Your Image

I will receive a lot of traffic to my blog from sharing it on social media platforms. Choosing the right social media platforms to promote my blog on will be vital to its success. I have chosen 2 social media platforms, Instagram and Pinterest,  that I will focus my attention on when promoting my blog. I chose Instagram because it is a platform where I can reach many people by tagging brands in my posts or sharing hashtags that go along with my post. I have high hopes that Instagram will help me reach many people. I chose Pinterest as the second platform that I will focus on because people tend to turn to it when they are searching for ideas about outfits, recipes, DIY projects, and so on. I am planning on making certain boards for each topic that I will cover on my blog and post weekly to each board. I will attach a link to my blog with each post so it will be easy for people to find. While I will focus most of my efforts on these two platforms, I will also promote my blog on Facebook where I will be able to reach a different audience.

Provide Valuable and Interesting Content

It is important to create content that will interest the intended audience. I plan on writing blog posts about outfits that I wear, things that I do outside of class, restaurants that deserve a visit and a handful of other things. In order to make my content interesting it should be visually appealing. I want to incorporate many fun and unique pictures into each blog post. I am planning on finding a software program to help me make my sight easy to use and fun to look at. It is important to be dedicated to each and every post so that it represents my image how I would like it to. I want to be able to keep my audience engaged and wanting to come back for more.

Be Consistent

It is important to be consistent when trying to be successful with a blog. Posts shouldn’t be all over the place or written in disorganization. I plan to follow a theme of a few topics and heavily focus on those few in different ways. I always want to be consistent with the amount of times I post. I feel that I need to post at least weekly on my blog and at least 3 times per week on social media. I want to ensure that I won’t be forgotten due to a lack of posting. I also want to connect with my followers. I plan to do this by replying to comments, messages, and questions to show them that I care. I believe that being consistent is a key factor in creating my brand.

I hope that you will join along with me on this journey!
