It seems as if the older you get, the less excited you are for the holidays. I remember in grade school being over the moon excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Mainly because I was getting a break from school but also to spend time with my family and exchange gifts. Besides my birthday this was typically the highlight of my year. This year my family decided to do something different: instead of exchanging gifts, we all went on an exotic vacation. As a family we chose to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Resort in the Dominican Republic.
While looking at the island and the resort I was amazed at the different marketing techniques that were used in order to persuade someone to stay at the resort. It was all inclusive and with purchasing the room you also were rewarded points. This was an incentive for people too use the points on adventures and activities at the resort. The Hard Rock also had activities and events for people of all ages and restricted children from entering certain parts of the resort making it adult friendly. Hard Rock ensured they would provide not just a vacation but an experience for their guest.
When we arrived at the resort, the pictures and information on the website did not do justice. We arrived and was greeted with cool aloe vera towels and champagne before checking into our rooms. The resort had finger food and a bartender as soon as you walked through the doors. Upon going to our room, our luggage was already delivered to our door and we were given a ride to our room. Due to us being a large family, on the behalf of the Hard Rock, they upgraded our room to Presidential Suites. In every room there was a private bathroom, floor to ceiling mirrors, and a floor level hot tub jacuzzi.
Every night while we were at the resort there were different shows and events. Throughout the day people in the resort would promote and pass out flyers to people to encourage them to participate in the night’s festivities. Daily the resort would have different Snapchat filters and commonly would have certain promotions encouraging you to use your social media.
I was extremely satisfied with my stay but this also put in perspective why the Hard Rock does great business. They have many different resorts all over the world and provide an experience for all guest who stay. This encourages loyalty but also builds their brand due to word of mouth and social media platforms.
