I could continue the dramatics and expand to nationwide or even worldwide population, but I will save you all the time and capitalize on this opportunity to exhibit my exemplar vocabulary by simply saying: there is a superfluous amount of faces on this Earth. (I’ve heard italics really add pizazz)

We see them every day; some faces masked by aviators, some bundled by scarves. Other faces covered in emotion and deep in thought, with the occasional few who seem to be deep in hour 3 of autopilot. But what is the common thread weaving all these faces together? Perception. I often times play a game where I assign an entire life to an innocent bystander based solely on what I see. Although it is a great creative exercise, 99% of my inferences are most likely skewed.

In an attempt to push myself out of my comfort zone, I have decided to dedicate this blog to giving a few of the faces I pass everyday a name, a chance to tell their story, and hopefully a light to shine on what has contributed to the face they wear today.

Unfortunately, there is a sense of taboo surrounding the thought of possibly disrupting anyone from their lives for a couple of minutes to ask a few questions and get to know them. Maybe this stigma stems from our hectic lifestyles which offer no room for unexpected visits (guilty), or maybe the shear amount of content we expose ourselves to through our phones and surroundings make it difficult to expand further with the faces right in front of us (guilty as charged). Whether those hypotheses are true in all of our lives, we can all agree improvements can be made in our communication practices. In one way or another, I will attempt to kickstart those improvements in my own life through this challenge.

Among other personal questions, I will also ask their opinion on the type of marketing they are exposed to every day. My goal is to gain enough information to discover a relationship between their personality, current lifestyle, and past experiences and the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of marketing campaigns they are exposed to in their everyday lives.
