Influencers are hitting the “like” button on Facebook’s newest changes

Facebook recently made big changes to its algorithm, switching away from news and advertising and towards more personal content. This means that less material from media outlets and businesses will be shown on your feed hurting the companies that rely on Facebook to advertise to their targeted audience. The big winners in this situation are social influencers who use their platform to advertise the brands they like to their followers. With Facebook restricting what people see in the way they just did, brands promoted by influencers’ posts might be the only form of advertising we will see on Facebook.


This is going to change the way a business’ marketing department thinks about how they market through social media. I for one am excited for this change due to the fact I feel like every other post I see is a sponsored ad for the website I just came from. It’ll be a nice change to see Facebook getting back to its friends and family feel. Now when companies want to advertise on Facebook they will have to reach out to social influencers and find a way to get them to promote their product. Facebook wants organic content from people, rather than businesses, so expect changes to your news feed fairly soon. This has been successfully done on Instagram for a while now and Facebook adopting this shows that social medias are working to hide their advertisements and making it look like a solely social community. Every business is now going to have to understand influencer marketing if they want to keep up. If you never made it as Insta-famous now is your chance to be Facebook famous!

I believe this post touches on a very interesting topic. I would like to find out even more about this. I agree with you that this will ultimately help the customer enjoy themselves more while browsing on facebook with ads catered to them. This will also help the development of other companies’ advertising, as they cannot reach their target market in ways they previously could.
