How the Animals of Instagram Might Make More Than You Think

One thing that all my friends and family know about me is that I’m obsessed with my dogs. If you add me on Snapchat, that’s pretty much the only thing you’ll see on my timeline. I have hundreds of pictures of my pups on my phone, and I may be a little biased, but I think they definitely have the potential to be Instagram famous. If you don’t believe me, just check them out in the featured photo of this blog! I mean, how hard could it be to get thousands of people to follow your dogs if they’re this cute? Well this week, I decided to look into how much it actually takes to get your pet Instagram famous, and the potential benefits that could come from this (aka can you make money off it). But getting paid to take pictures of your pups sounds too good to be true, right?

Turns out it isn’t. Some people actually get paid thousands of dollars to promote different brands on their pet’s social media page. You might even get a cool vacation out of it! Hotels like the Ritz-Carlton and the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas have had Instagram famous dogs photographed in their resorts. If your dog gains a massive Instagram following, you can even land a deal with one of the agencies that represent talented animals!

This dream job definitely comes at a price though. The task of getting the perfect picture of your furry friend is more time consuming than a simple post on Instagram might appear. You have to love to take pictures of your animals, and plan on creating a new post several times a week (if not more) to gain a lot of followers. And a picture-perfect shot usually doesn’t come straight from an iPhone. Many pet owners have to invest in cameras and editing apps, which can be a pretty large amount of cash depending on the camera you get.

So if this job sounds like it’s up your ally, get a good camera, snap some pics of your favorite animal, and you might just make some extra cash! But if you don’t have time to post every day, or at least several times a week, this probably isn’t the job for you. Luckily for me, taking pictures of my pups is my favorite hobby!

Those are two great pups! I live in the Savannah area, and there was a visiting the Savannah area that had famous pet pigs (apparently they’re pretty popular) on Instagram. It was pretty crazy to see the amount of followers she had. After reading your blog post, I’m even more astonished at the amount of money she’s probably making. You should do the same! With some pups like that, I’d definitely give that Instagram page a follow! Awesome blog!
