Competition Between Cosmetics Stores

Competition Between Cosmetics Stores

If you are a big fan of Makeup or Skincare Products that shop at Sephora, you would be noticed that Sephora has been running the Weekly Wow for months. Weekly Wow is a program that each week the company pick out some bestseller products on sale of up to 50% off the regular price. Sephora as the most famous cosmetics store in the world that carries most of the popular brands like Urban Decay, Hourglass, Becca, Too Faced etc. It has been the top name pop out on the list when you think of cosmetics. On the other side, Ulta has been running the promotion for 21-days sale. It is a program that in the 21 days, every day they have up to 2 products on sale in the store of up to 50% off the regular price, but this program only runs one category between cosmetics for 21 days and hair products for 21 days.

These two are the marketing skills they have operated on prices. Differences between Sephora and Ulta promotion program is that Sephora has more options of well-known and higher-end of products that these brands rarely have discounts up to 20% off. On the other hands, Ulta has more variety of brands that Sephora doesn’t carry that it’s hard to find at any other local stores. The different options for products have helped customers making decisions between these two stores.

The competition between these two stores has helped customers to get cosmetics products at a more affordable price, and this can be a really good way to market the specific products. Instead of only send out free products to youtubers or bloggers on social media, Sephora and Ulta have moved forward giving more people opportunity to hands-on trying the products and build up the reputation.

The competition between Sephora and Ulta continues, the competition in the cosmetics world keeps going, and this is associated with marketing strategies to create a win-win situation in the industry.

I completely agree that they are both doing a phenomenal job drawing in customers with their promotions! I’m a loyal Sephora shopper and I think their beauty insider program somehow grabbed me to come back time and time again.

This article caught my eye because I shop at both Sephora and Ulta depending on what product I’m looking for or what store is having a better sale. I used to only shop at Sephora growing up but recently Ulta has been running some great promotions that have drawn me to become a loyal customer to Ulta in comparison to my previous loyalty to Ulta. I think it’s good to have some competition between big brands like this because it helps the consumers become brand loyal and appreciate these kinds of brands. Great post!
