King of Pops – Frozen Treats with a Facebook Page

Have you ever heard of King of Pops? You know that popsicle business, marked by its tasty frozen treats and rainbow umbrellas. You can often find a KOP cart perched on the corner of Broad Street and College Avenue or in a busy plaza in downtown Atlanta. My claim to fame is that I know the founders of King of Pops- Steven and Nick Carse. Steven Carse is my brothers best friend- he was even my brother’s Best Man in his wedding. Now if that isn’t cool, I don’t know what is! And yes, there were popsicles at the wedding.

Because of my connection to the founders of KOP, I have had the opportunity to watch the business grow and succeed since the very beginning. King of Pops was founded in 2010, after Steven and Nick got the idea when traveling through Central America. What started as a simple conversation has turned into a very impactful business and Atlanta staple.

How did they get so far ahead? Social media. I had the opportunity to interview Steven last spring to learn more about his business model, and his advice was simple, yet brilliant. Since the very beginning of the business, Steven and Nick have worked to utilize social media to include their customers in the business processes and decision making. By including customers as much as possible, this has led to customers feeling like they have a true involvement in the business.

For example, when determining what design would be on the popsicle cart, KOP had a contest on Facebook. Anybody could submit artwork, and then the different designs were posted in a Facebook album. Followers could vote on their favorite design. I even remember when my mom voted on her favorite design back in 2013.

These simple way of engaging the audience through social media is what has led to KOP gaining a whopping 51,847 likes and 4.8 stars from 1.4K reviews on its Facebook page.

They are not afraid to come up with new ideas. King of Pops Run Club, Yoga in the park, Movie nights, Popsicles for Pups, and Tree Elves are just a few of the ideas King of Pops has introduced- all ideas have been advertised on social media. My family used Tree Elves this winter, and our Christmas tree was delivered, set up, and then taken down by the Tree Elves. And we heard about this service through the KOP Facebook page!

This business has thrived through the use of social media and connecting with people. KOP has done an amazing job involving customers through the use of social media. I look forward to watching KOP continue to grow and thrive. Now hurry up warmer weather, I am ready for a popsicle! ☀️

I can’t believe you know the founders! You made some excellent points. I’m an avid follower of KOP social media and a regular attender of KOP Yoga in the park. I love the way KOP continues to grow their brand with engagement on social media, fun events, and sweet services.

I loved this article!
I had no idea King of Pops started this way and I will now look at them in a new light! It’s insightful how well they have built this relationship with consumers and how they are able to adapt to the winter with a new business venture.
