For small town Athens Georgia, there’s few better staples than Creature Comforts beer. Despite being only 4 years old, Creature is anything but the new kid on the block. They have established themselves as the Athens local’s go-to beer, developing their niche as the cornerstone of Athens.
What makes Creature stand apart from the other major breweries in Athens is their engagement with the town – regularly holding events for the city such as the Athens Farmer’s Market, service industry night and live music events promoting local bands. These events, plus being at the center of the downtown Athens hub, have allowed creature to become a staple of the Classic City.
It takes more than just putting on the events though, Creature does a great job with getting the word out. Facebook is dedicated to event statuses and updates allowing their followers to reply with whether or not they are coming to one of the various events. By encouraging this engagement with their followers, word about the events spread fast.
I regularly find myself intrigued at the thought of 22 of my Facebook friends interested in attending live music at Creature Comforts this week.
This past summer I saw that 8 of my 10 friends…in town, were attending Creature Comforts Service Industry Night – Southeastern Women’s Wrestling Addition”. Intrigued, I clicked for more information. Turns out, by showing my proof of Athens service industry employment I could show up and get a free beer. I ended up going and bringing a couple of my coworkers.
The service industry night demonstrates another powerful aspect about Creature Comforts, they care about their community. They don’t put on these events just to sell beer, they encourage the town to buy local, support local. You work in the service industry? Come on down and enjoy a beer on us – you serve us, let us serve you for a change. Their involvement with the community and genuine interest in how they can make their customers happier is what makes them stand out as one of Athens finest.
