Atlanta United vs. Atlanta Falcons

With Atlanta United only being in their second season after being formed, we can already tell that they are the real powerhouse of Atlanta. Last season, they were one of the top teams, and this season are in first place in the league. A record, which the Falcons have yet to achieve. I believe that in a few years, Atlanta United will also catch up to the Falcons in terms of attendance. After going to games from both teams, almost everyone can agree that an Atlanta United game is way more fun, even if knowing nothing about soccer. Is part of Atlanta United’s success due to their strong presence on social media?

When comparing their Instagram accounts, the Falcons have almost 4x the followers of Atlanta United but fail to compare to Atlanta United’s outstanding engagement. Part of this may be the content posted. After having played 2 games this season, I would not even be able to know how the Falcons played based off of their social media. Atlanta United, on the other hand, post the score, goals and other highlights. I think the Atlanta Falcons should take notes from the Atlanta United social media team to improve their brand and overall fan experience.

As a Georgia Home team fan, whether it be UGA, The Hawks, The Braves, The Falcons, Or Atlanta United, it definitely helps to see their social media if I miss one of their games on how they did after that specific game. UGA definetly hits the nail on this one, by creating that unique relationship between the team and fans alike on social media, its makes the win feel more special, whether the game was away or home. But I do agree with Falcons needing to learn how to create a better interaction experience for their fans on social media. It’s not easy being a Atlanta fan, especially to the Hawks and the Falcons, regarding today’s lost to the Saints.
