Audi’s answer to the Tesla Model X

Audi has recently unveiled a new electric SUV model that should be in direct competition with the Tesla Model X. The Audi E-Tron is the company’s first all electric car. They are ready to hit the market with this SUV.

The E-tron has some nice features like virtual side mirrors (not legal in U.S.), quick charging, and massage seats. Base price is set at $74,000 with a $1,000 refundable deposit to save your reservation for the vehicle. There will only be 999 of this model made. It goes from 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 124 mph. With fast charging, the car should be able to hit 80% charge in 30 minutes. A range for how far the car can go has not been set for the U.S. yet.

There are more features that Audi plans to have for the vehicle, set to be shipped in mid- 2019, like virtual cockpit, wireless charging, and touch screens.

I have always been a fan of Audi’s vehicles, so I think it is great to see them making a push for all electric vehicles. It is interesting to see that the design of this SUV looks very similar to their SUVs in the past. I feel like this could be a potential business route for many companies in the future. By taking existing models converting them to all electric, car manufacturers are able to please the customers who are already satisfied with how their vehicle looks, while also continuing toe innovate with the times. I believe Audi’s new electric SUV model represents a business model that will be used many times in the coming years for all car manufacturers.
