In Apple’s newest release of iPhone products, the company had a representative come speak about the environmental efforts that Apple considered in the making of the phones. The speaker emphasized the use of recycled materials used in the newest models of iPhone, including the Xs, Xs Max, and Xr. The representative emphasized the idea of recycling old iPhones and how Apple can use the recycled parts to make new phones.
I am very impressed that Apple has taken this step to become more environmentally conscious. Many companies support separate campaigns for environmental preservation, but it is rare to see a company using its own products to create an environmental campaign. Prior to this campaign, I never considered what the typical process was for disposing of an old phone. Apple is now advertising the best way for old iPhones to be tossed, which is very refreshing.
I believe that Apple will be very successful with this campaign due to the trend of “going green” being popular among many digital marketers. More and more consumers are valuing the idea of environmental responsibility and look for companies that hold similar values. The campaign also directly benefits the customer by having the new iPhones being released at the same time that this campaign is in place. The consumer is able to recycle their old phone while having the opportunity to also purchase a new model. I’m interested to see what else Apple will do to promote environmental responsibility in the future.
