If you haven’t seen the newest trend in sneakers…it’s hideous. Companies are now manufacturing sneakers that resemble socks and rather than tie with laces, the fabric hugs your ankle to resemble socks. To give you a visual, these are some of the hottest pairs on google today…
As you can see, these are being manufactured by both high fashion companies, such as Michael Kors, and price-conscious companies like Target and Forever 21.
Multiple celebrities have adopted this trend, although they are most likely sporting the $900 Fendi pair or the $750 pair from Balenciaga.
What’s the appeal here? To me, these shoes are aimed at people who are so lazy, they can’t be bothered to put on socks AND shoes, so they choose to have 2 in 1. I mean c’mon, the footwear industry is simply not the same as the shampoo and conditioner industry that can just combine their products. But…clearly it’s working.
Other trends in sneakers today include “dad sneakers” and velcro. Some people are paying top dollar for these shoes and others are paying next to nothing to imitate these celebrity endorsed trends.
My advice? Stick to the old fashioned way and put your socks on one foot at a time, followed by your shoes.
