“Baby Braves” Clinch NL East: #ForEachOther

On Saturday, the Atlanta Braves clinched the National League East for the first time since 2013. Coming into the season, expectations were low, and many experts and fans alike believed that the Braves were a year away from contending again.

The road back to the postseason has been difficult and filled with adversity. While in the midst of a full rebuild, the Braves have endured three straight seasons of 90 or more losses. (For context, a .500 record is 81-81).

The massive turnaround can primarily be attributed to three main factors: an exciting, young core, (Ronald Acuña Jr, Ozzie Albies, and others) steady contributions from Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakiis, and breakout seasons from Mike Foltynewicz and Sean Newcomb. The passion displayed by the younger players and multiple thrilling comebacks has created a squad that is fun to watch and embraces the underdog mentality.

During the celebration on Saturday, the team Twitter account gave fans a behind the scenes look into the festivities.

From a digital marketing perspective, the Braves social media platforms are a reflection of the on field product. For example,  they also released a hype video that was both a season recap and the debut of the postseason hashtag #ForEachOther.

I may be biased, but I think this video and hashtag both reiterate the mindset the Braves have had all season long. They’ve ignored the doubters, and I think the social media team did an excellent job of connecting a mentality with a hashtag.

I agree, the social media team did a great job of bringing the hashtag to life and creating an almost tangible connection between mentality of the team and that of the fan base. The Braves marketing efforts this season appear to have been hugely successful in creating excitement around this 2018 team all season.

GO BRAVES!!!!!! So proud of our baby team! I agree that the social media reflects the new personality of the Braves: it’s young, active, and exciting. The team is more popular than it’s been in quite some time, so it’s important that the social media channels up their game.
