Wendy’s Continues to Dominate Twitter

Over recent years Wendy’s has become known for tweeting funny content at the expense of competitors or just random celebrities in general. Wendy’s has employed the strategy of humorous tweets to influence millennials who value big companies acting like they would on social media. The target of Wendy’s latest tweet was Scott Frost, the head coach of Nebraska when his team got dominated by Michigan this past weekend. Wendy’s tweeted out the following after the loss:

This tweet obviously rubbed Nebraska fans the wrong way with several responding with anger at the tweet. Wendy’s kept replying to these fans with other hilarious tweets which only served to make the whole situation even funnier. Wendy’s has continued to produce fresh content that generates massive engagement through their use of humor. I think many companies will begin to follow Wendy’s strategy to help differentiate themselves from so many other boring companies on social media.

I think Wendy’s Twitter presence is genius. All of the Nebraska related tweets were hilarious, and obviously, there are many more examples as well. I don’t follow many companies on Twitter, but I follow Wendy’s specifically because of their funny tweets. The fast-food industry is so competitive, so any advantage over the competition is important.
