Grey’s Anatomy – 15 seasons
Friends – 10 seasons
The Office – 9 seasons
These are just a few of my favorite shows that happen to have longer than the average amount of seasons. The Office was a show that I had a hard time getting into but I watched it for the inside jokes and references that my friends would make. Friends has been my all time favorite show for such a long time, I even fall asleep to it every night. Finally, Grey’s Anatomy has got me hooked and I am already on season three after a week.
Although I had trouble sticking with The Office I did finish all nine seasons of it and did not hate it in the end, however I was not heartbroken it was over either. On the other hand, when Friends ended I bawled my eyes out and watched as many interviews with the cast as I could. In these interviews they all mentioned how they wished they had filmed one last season all together. Grey’s Anatomy as many people know, has just come out with their fifteenth season on ABC network. Which many of my friends have told me, is way too long, especially considering that every main character that you fall in love with dies.
I have noticed that The Office is most popular amongst my generation where as Friends has been popular for decades. It was a show that my mom was always so excited to watch when each one came out on live television. However, Grey’s Anatomy has the strangest viewer base to me. For some, you would think that sticking with a show for fifteen seasons would be insane. Yet there is a large enough viewer base for this show that ABC network signed it on for another season. My question is: Are these people really stuck on the buzz of the story line, or are they one’s that have watched it all along and have to ride it out until the end? Either way, Grey’s Anatomy has done some incredible advertising in order to keep their show and characters interesting to the viewers.
There have been shows that I have watched where I thought to myself that six seasons was way too long, and other shows like Friends, where I thought that ten seasons was not enough. Do you have any shows with many seasons that you have watched just for the sake of finishing? Or any shows that you wished lasted a few more seasons longer? How long is too long?
