Facebook recently announced that they are requiring political advertisers in the UK to verify their location and information before posting. This move is intended to make it harder for foreign countries to meddle in the United Kingdom’s elections. As a part of Facebook’s new initiative, each ad will also include a “paid for by” disclaimer.
The company apparently already implemented these policies for campaign advertisements in the US. It will be interesting to see if Russian or other foreign meddlers are successful in interfering with our upcoming midterm elections.
