Jon Favreau is a very talented director, and I really enjoyed his charming film, Chef. Chef often popped up on my suggested by Netflix videos, but I never got around to watching it… that is, until it was no longer on Netflix. To begin, this movie had an absolutely amazing cast. From Sofia Vergarra to Scarlett Johansson to Robert Downey Jr., the characters of this movie were very well-developed from both the perspective of the cast and their roles. Favreau’s film highlighted the importance of perseverance, ambition, and family. This movie does not depict any novel concepts, but the way in which Favreau built his story surrounding familiar circumstances allowed the audience to relate to the film and to its characters.
Also, I absolutely love any movie about food, so not only did this movie have a great story line, but it also combined my other passion – good eats. The importance of friends and family in this film make it refreshing and enjoyable as the story develops their relationships and their growth even in difficult circumstances. This movie made it clear that life is not easy, but it is possible to find your passion and push through the challenges to reach fulfillment. Also, Dustin Hoffman’s appearance was another plus.
