The Intern is a heartwarming comedy starring two big Hollywood stars, Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Robert De Niro, a personal favorite of mine, takes on a role we haven’t seen before. He usually plays in action movies but this time he portrays a 70-year-old retired executive widow named Ben. He feels tired of living the retired life, so he seeks an opportunity to join a senior internship at a startup company founded by Anne Hathaway (Jules). Ben has a personable grandpa-like personality that is enjoyed by everyone at the company. Ben is assigned to help Jules with more than just the job. He helps her with her personal life as she struggles with being a CEO and being family oriented.
Ben’s character is a great example for being a great person. Throughout the movie I expressed many “awes”. He was very respectable and kind. He helped Jules when it wasn’t him job. Her took on the responsibility when many would choose not to.
This movie made me feel optimistic. There are people out there that aim to be a positive aspect of your life. Overall, this is a feel good, pick me up movie. The Intern wasn’t relatable, and the plot was predictable. I would recommend this movie for a rainy day. The Intern would receive 4/5 stars from me.
