Yesterday, in separate statements, both NBC and Fox news announced they will no longer be airing Trump’s controversial caravan ad. The ad ran about dozen times on Fox news before it was pulled. Facebook also has come under fire for allowing the ad to be shown on their platform. Following Fox’s suit, Facebook announced their rejection of the Ad yesterday claiming it violated their policy against ‘sensational’ content. Notably, CNN originally decided the ad was racist and declined to sell air time for it.
Brad Parscale, the 2020 campaign manager for the Trump campaign, ironically chose to ignore Fox’s pulling of the ad. Instead, he chose to only directly call out NBC, Facebook and CNN on Twitter, stating that the #’Fake News Media’ is trying to control what we see and think.
Obviously, digital media, social media and the news/politics have blurred into one and this is a prime example. think its interesting how Facebook and Twitter interchangeably acted as key media sources here along with NBC, Fox and CNN.
