Heather Godwin is a senior Finance and Accounting double major at the University of Georgia. She serves on the executive board for Women in Finance and was a part of the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) at UGA.
When asked why she chose her majors, Heather responded, “I chose finance because I liked math but knew I didn’t want to do something relating to science. I also chose it because I worked with my uncle in finance during high school and realized I liked the industry despite not having actually taken a finance class yet. I added my accounting major to finance because it is useful in the industry and for having more career paths to choose from if I wanted to switch.”
Heather is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and she is a tremendous Pittsburgh sports fan. Steelers, Pirates, Penguins… you name it. She loves these teams because she grew up surrounded by people who were very passionate about them. In her free time, other than watching sports, Heather loves to travel and spend time with her friends and family.
Heather has had internship experience in investment banking and wealth and investment management analysis, but she has recently decided to pursue a full time role in Valuation and Business Modeling for Ernst & Young. She will begin this coming summer in the heart of New York City. I can’t wait to see the great things Heather does in the Big Apple!
