Student Spotlight: Kate Mazza

Kate Mazza is a junior Advertising major with a minor in Fashion Merchandising at the University of Georgia. Kate is also pursuing a certificate in Entrepreneurship! She is a member of American Marketing Association (AMA), AdClub, and Little Red Book Mag. She is a part of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and was a Gamma Chi last recruitment (Fall 2018). She was the Alpha Omicron Pi team leader for UGA HERO’s and is now serving on the recruitment board.

Kate grew up in Marietta, Georgia. Kate’s mother and father are both entrepreneurs which influenced her into getting her Entrepreneurship Certificate. In her free time she loves to cook. She loves to try different restaurants and making her own version of the food she ate. Kate has a passion for the outdoors and loves to travel and hike. Kate has also been been PADI Scuba Certified since she was 10 years old! She hopes to get her Scuba Instructors License in the future so she can travel and teach others how to scuba dive and raise awareness in coral and ocean conservation.

So why did you choose Advertising and Fashion Merchandising, Kate?

“I came to UGA initially wanting to do a medical emphasis but then found that I didn’t have strong passion for the material. Chemistry was rough.” She said. Kate then found an interest in Marketing but her friend suggested to look into Advertising because she might like it more. So she did. She said “Advertising is intriguing, I can be creative and a strategist within the same career. After I made this decision, I have never been happier. I have such a passion for the materials and am actually excited to learn. Most importantly, I’m excited for my future.”

“I also hope to continue on at UGA by obtaining a Master’s degree in Marketing Research (MMR) or Public Relations.” She concluded.

Kate graduates in December of 2020 and is actively looking for a summer internship. With her diverse interests, passion, and drive, I don’t think finding an internship will be a challenge for her. I am excited to see where she will go and wish nothing but the best for her.
