Student Spotlight: Riley McBay

Tags :

If you have ever stepped foot in Casey Commons in the center of UGA’s Business Learning Community, there is a good chance you have seen a young woman with dirty blonde curly hair and a smile on her face. Sometimes she is crisp in the classic red Terry polo, and other times she is rocking a camo hat. Her name is Riley McBay and she is a 4th year Management student who has left a giant impact at the University of Georgia.

Riley truly exemplifies what it is to be a student in the Terry College of Business. While she joined the social sorority Zeta Tau Alpha, she chose to hone in on her leadership development by participating in business-focused extracurriculars. Riley has spent several years as a dedicated member of Pi Sigma Epsilon, a Marketing, Sales and Management Fraternity. She has served on the Promotions Team for PSE’s bi-yearly recruitment, as well as a New Member Development leader where she helped mentor new members of PSE. However, you can always find her lending herself wherever she is needed.

She has the honor of serving as an Ambassador for the Terry College of Business, where she helps host events with employers and notable alumni, gives tours to prospective students, and serves as a guide to current Terry students. She also serves as the Social Chair and helps facilitate lasting relationships between the ambassadors. She says, “Out of all of my experiences at UGA, I think being a part of the Terry Ambassador program has been most impactful. This program has given me such an incredible platform to connect with potential Terry students, mentor underclassmen, and meet the most impressive Terry alumni. It is such an honor to represent the college in my red polo every day!”

Riley has also been hand-picked to participate in the National Collegiate Sales Competition and the International Collegiate Sales Competition, which provided her with invaluable experience in consultative sales. This led to her internship with Georgia Pacific in their JumpStart Program, and she will be returning to GP as a PRO Jumpstart Associate after graduation.

Looking back on the last four years, Riley says that if she had to choose her favorite part about UGA, it would be, “Surrounding myself with peers and friends who encourage me to be my best self and always push me to expand my involvement, knowledge, and experiences. The UGA community really does feel like a family!” Riley is the perfect example of what it means to be a dawg at heart.
