To Crunch or not to Crunch…

I am going to get straight to the point and say I am not a fan of working out. In all honesty, who is? I prefer the comfort of my couch to the comfort of a treadmill. But with Spring Break coming up, I decided it was time to trade in my crocs for a pair of running shoes and find the best work out option in Athens.

After doing some research, Crunch was one of the best financial decisions. Not only is it just $20 dollars a month, but there are many perks to being a member. For example, with a membership card you can get many discounts for food around Athens! Some of these discounts include 20% off at Wing Zone, 10% off at Senior Sol, and 10% off at Subway. After a nice work out on the elliptical, I can head to Chick-Fil-A and receive a free entre when I purchase a meal. Other perks of joining Crunch include their tanning benefits and class options. If you are like me and do not trust yourself to work out for longer than 20 minutes, you can take cycling or circuit training. So, to get ready for Spring Break, you can tan and work out in the same building.

Another great option is Class Pass. If you like to diversify your work outs, Class Pass allows you to take classes around Athens for credits. Another bonus of Class Pass is that the first month is free! I received 27 credits for Athens studios and it has been awesome. Instead of being stuck to one gym, you can bounce around. I forced my friend to try it with me and it is nice to have a little change up in my work out routine. Some of the best options are Pilates, yoga, and cycling! I love yoga because I can say I worked out when all I did was sit in child’s pose for 30 minutes.

In the end, it’s about what makes you happy. If you enjoy high interval training, a community environment, and want to feel like you are dying for an hour, try Orangetheory (first class is free). If you’re more casual and like to watch Netflix and use an elliptical for 30 minutes, try Crunch. No matter where you go, it’s not going to be fun. Best advice I can give is to grab a pal and do something together. You can keep on your #springbreakgrind together.

I really enjoyed reading this post, as I have actually just finished up my “free trial week” at Crunch Fitness. This definitely made me want to join, since I was not aware of all the extra freebies that came with your membership!
