Whether you are planning a special night for your significant other, or going out with friends, there are TONS of fun things to do in Athens on Valentine’s day. Here are 7 cool ideas for the special day, and if you already have plans, these are still great date night idea’s that we ALL need to try!
1. Romantic Dinner
A tried and true date night idea is to go out for a romantic dinner, and there is no better place than right here in Athens. Whether you make a reservation at an iconic restaurants (like Five & Ten, Seabear Oyster Bar, or Last Resort) or try something completely new, you’re bound to have a lovely time.
2. Custom Cocktail Workshop
Haven’t you always wanted to “Create, Taste, and Name original [cocktail] recipes”? I know I have, and this is a fun and unique Valentine’s day date idea. And if all goes well, you and your S.O. can have a sentimental “drink” the way many couples have a special “song”. It doesn’t get much more romantic than that! Sessions are from 5-10PM (starting at 5PM and 8PM) and tickets are $25 for an individual and $40 for couples.
3. Chocolate and Wine Tasting
It has been said that the best thing about Valentine’s day is that it gives us the perfect excuse to drink wine and eat chocolate in the middle of the week. Condor Chocolate wants to help this dream come true! Grab your date and head over to J’s bottle shop from 6:30-8:30PM to try out some tasty flavor combinations!
I’m a strong believer that you don’t really know a person until you experience the deepest form of humiliation with them. So, if you want to take the next step with that special someone, stop by Southern Brewing Company from 5-10PM this Valentine’s Day! There’s no better way to connect with your S.O. than by reenacting the “Start of Something New” scene from high school musical in front of a room full of strangers.
Artini’s has a special event planned for Valentine’s day that is bound to be a good time. If you like food, art, and/or love, you won’t want to miss it. The event is from 7-10PM and tickets are $60 per person.
6. Athens on Ice
Snuggle up to stay warm at the classic center ice-skating rink this Valentine’s day. Show off your olympic skills and your significant other will fall in love with you all over again. Whether you’re a good skater or not, you’ll definitely leave with some great memories! Sessions are 90 minutes, and tickets are $13 per person.
7. Stories of Love: A Valentine’s Day Tour
Take a tour of the Richard B. Russell Building Special Collections Libraries at 1pm this Valentine’s day to learn about “the hidden love stories behind the displays!” There will be gossip, games and Valentine’s themed snacks, and this event is free to the public. Your date will LOVE it!
