2019 Grammy’s Continue With Low Viewership

After much controversy with this year’s Grammy Awards, it is no surprise that audience numbers barely surpassed last year’s smallest audience size in the last decade. According to the Nielsen Company, the estimated audience size for the 2019 award show was 19.9 million, just passing last year’s numbers of 19.8 million.

With super-star artist forgoing attendance like Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino (who became the first ever winner of a song and record of the year Grammy for rap music), it is easy to see why fans would not tune-in.

As the Grammy’s importance wanes, so do opportunities for marketing and advertising. The once massive opportunity for commercial viewership during the Grammy’s may soon become a thing of the past.

I would have never known that the Grammy’s have a low viewers rate. I personally don’t understand why you wouldn’t watch the Grammy’s since they incorporate all types of music. I will say, there are some strange performances but in the end its all worth the watch.
